Japaland Tours offers premium, off-the-beaten-path tours in Japan, emphasizing authentic local experiences, small intimate groups, and sustainable travel practices
The goal was to enhance the online platform’s usability and visual hierarchy—making it easy for users to discover, inquire, and book immersive journeys seamlessly.
Interviewing Stakeholders & Frequent Travelers
Held interviews with customers & trip managers to identify common user questions and blocker points (e.g., unclear itinerary comparisons).
Spoke with previous travelers to understand what motivated their booking decisions—key triggers: authenticity, small group size, and local access.
Capturing Core Service Insights (Japaland’s USP)
Aligned design priorities with Japaland’s promise of “hidden gems & exclusive access,” “small, intimate groups,” and “dedicated trip manager” to reinforce trust and differentiation.
Highlighted sustainability and local partnership features in the user journey to appeal to conscious travelers.
Building a Design System
Created modular components: tour cards with image, tags, group count; CTA buttons; filter panels; and story sections displaying unique selling points.
Standardized typography, spacing, and color roles to maintain a premium yet approachable visual identity.
Designing High‑Fidelity Prototype
Applied Japaland’s brand tone—clean whites, rich photo usage, and elegant fonts—to differentiate from generic tour sites.
Designed immersive trip-detail pages with bold hero imagery, icons for features (e.g., small group, trip manager), and clear booking paths.
Finalized responsive layouts ensuring clarity on desktop and mobile, with accessible input fields and feedback.
